LIFE Victoria: The Romantic Journey

Saturday 10 October - 19:00

Pianist Marc Serra proposes a journey through the music and the lives of the Romantic composers.

Beethoven is considered to have begun the path to Romanticism, and his life, too, was full of torments and worries that were reflected in his musical scores.

Liszt, meanwhile, embodied the other side of the Romantic artist, equally set apart but touched by fame: a child prodigy, his tours excited Lisztmania, and he ended up as Wagner’s father-in-law.

Scriabin, by now in the twentieth century, still drew on Romanticism, especially his work for piano, with its tendency towards Chopin.
